Custom Woven Hats Manufacturer & Wholesale Supplier(9 designs)

Woven hats — paper braid, straw, raffia and woven fabric — are a distinct manufacturing discipline. The material arrives as a braid or a woven sheet and is shaped over a block, so the finished quality depends on the blocking and finishing work as much as on the weave itself. SXMX manufactures custom woven hats from our facility in Houjie, Dongguan, China, including panama-style, fedora-style, boater and wide-brim shapes. MOQ is 100 pieces per style, sampling takes 5–7 days, and bulk production runs 15–25 days after sample approval.

Buying guide

Sourcing Custom Woven Hats from China

Materials & Weave Options

  • Paper braid — the most common and most economical woven hat material; light and shapeable
  • Straw — natural tone and texture, with more variation between units
  • Raffia — softer and more flexible, with a smoother surface
  • Woven cotton and cotton-blend fabric — a textile interpretation of the woven look
  • Weave density — fine, medium and open weaves, each with a different hand feel and airflow
  • Crown blocking — fedora-style pinch, panama-style, boater flat-crown, or a plain rounded crown

Decoration on Woven Hats

As with straw and felt-look western hats, embroidery and printing do not apply to woven surfaces. Woven hats are branded with applied components, and the design is planned around them.

  • Decorative hat bands — grosgrain ribbon, woven band, leather-look band, or a printed band
  • Woven labels and metal badges applied to the band or the crown
  • Embroidered and woven patches sewn onto an applied fabric panel
  • Custom inner sweatband, woven label and hang tag
  • Custom packaging and printed poly bag

Why Blocking and Finishing Decide the Quality

A woven hat is shaped by pulling the braid or sheet over a block and then finishing the edge. Three things separate a good woven hat from a bad one:

  • The crown must hold its shape without the block supporting it — a hat that collapses after a week on display has not been finished properly
  • The brim edge must be cleanly bound or turned, with no exposed raw braid and no visible stitching irregularity around the curve
  • The band must sit at a consistent height all the way around the crown, because any drift is immediately visible

MOQ, Quality & Shipping

The MOQ is 100 pieces per style, including a custom crown block and a branded hat band. Sampling takes 5–7 days after the shape and materials are confirmed; because blocking and edge finishing are separate production steps, a first woven sample may take the longer end of that range. Bulk production is 15–25 days after sample approval and deposit, with unit price breaks at 100, 300, 500 and 1,000 pieces.

Our QC inspects crown shape retention, brim edge finish, band height consistency, decoration placement and measurements on every finished hat before packing. Woven hats are bulkier than caps, so we quote both air and sea freight and will recommend the more economical option for your volume and arrival date. Every order ships with photo documentation of goods and cartons.

Custom Woven Hats: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the MOQ for custom woven hats?
100 pieces per style, including a custom crown block and a branded hat band. Because blocking and edge finishing are separate steps, this is one of the categories where confirming the shape early saves the most time.
Can you embroider a logo on a straw hat?
No — embroidery and printing do not work on straw, paper braid or raffia surfaces. Woven hats are branded with a decorative band carrying a woven label or metal badge, or with a woven or embroidered patch sewn onto an applied fabric panel. We plan this into the design from the beginning.
What is the difference between paper braid, straw and raffia?
Paper braid is the most economical and the most consistent in colour, straw has a more natural texture with more unit-to-unit variation, and raffia is softer with a smoother surface. All three are blocked and finished the same way, and we will recommend based on your price point and how consistent you need the colour to be.
Can you produce a panama-style or fedora-style woven hat?
Yes. Crown blocking is done to your specification — fedora pinch, panama style, boater flat-crown or a plain rounded crown. Send reference photographs or a physical sample and we will match the block at sampling.
What is the lead time for woven hats?
Sampling takes 5–7 days after the shape and materials are confirmed. Bulk production is 15–25 days after sample approval and deposit. Shipping is usually the larger variable on woven hats because they are bulky — ask us for both air and sea quotations.
